How testosterone affects hair loss
Godfather of all bodybuilding supplements is testosterone and it is the birth place of all anabolic steroids. Testosterone is work as a hammer that drives muscle size, energy strength, performance and power for the bodybuilders. Where testosterone has many benefits, there are also some side effects too. Testosterone and hair loss is also related. Women and men both face this problem. Mostly people are affected by androgenic alopecia. Hormones do many functions in our body but level of these become low or high then they could cause some problems. Besides this there is a whole criterion between hair loss and testosterone.
Fluctuation of hormone levels in the body, it creates harmful effects. There are three forms of testosterone present in the body. These are free testosterone, Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and Dhydrotestosterone (DHT). Free testosterone is not bound with any protein and bound throughout the body. Sex hormone-binding globulin is bound with albumin which is found in the blood. The relation between hair loss and testosterone is depends on testosterone level in body. Dihydrotestosterone is produced by an enzyme and more potent than testosterone. Texture and thickness are affected by hormone levels. It is also responsible for the male pattern baldness. MPB is other name of male pattern baldness. An M formation shape is receded frontal hairline at the skull’s front. It is most common pattern. Other common pattern is balding at the skull’s crown, after some time the upper part of the head and hair become thin at the point of baldness and makes the different shape. The head is not always the normal place while hormones work to fall out hairs. Hairs are present on different part of the body and can react with hormone levels distinctly than others and hormone levels effect person to person differently. It is also possible that testosterone hair growth at the one part of the body occurs as in the form of baldness and at the same time hair growth on the other part can thicker and healthier.
High level of testosterone hormone develops balding on the top of the head. Studies were done by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology shows the same results. Men that have higher level of SHBG, thinner hairs are present on the chest.
Dihydrotestosterone form is mainly responsible for hair loss. This is formed by an enzyme, 5a reeducates in women. It can be also found as DHEA. This form is present in the follicles and causes sensitivity of the follicles. Result of sensitivity makes it harder for the development of the hairs and grows in the follicles. Dihydrotestosterone could encourage hair to fall out or thin, while follicles are sensitive. The other reasons that are responsible for hair loss are stress, age and medical condition or medication.
If anybody’s hair is becoming thin or falling out, immediate consult a doctor to cure and slow it down. There are many options available in the market that interferes with the work of Dihydro testosterone and testosterone’s function on the body such as finasteride. It is recommended that not to take any supplement for interfere with hormones without prescription of doctor. Pregnant women should not take any supplement such as finasteride. It is dangerous for them because it affects to the pregnancy and fetus.
